Summary:This article proposes to analyze a morphological feature of the Brittonic languages: the origin and semantic developments of the Welsh -yn m./ -en f., Cornish -yn(n) m./ -en(n) f. and Breton -enn f. derivatives, which are attested in ancient sources for each of the three languages. Since traditional Cornish has been extinct since the 18th century, Breton and Welsh are examined in particular.
