description Continuous casting is a solidification process, in which the knowledge about its variables is very important in order to produce steel with good quality. The tundish distributes the steel coming from the ladle to the metallurgical mold as the traditional function, besides, it also has some other important functions. Because of its importance in the process, this work aim to carry out studies on the steel flow in the tundish with two different configurations, with and without inert gas injection. A Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software were used to make the mathematical simulations making possible to note the difference in terms of the Residence Time Distribution curves (RTD curves), levels of turbulence and velocity profiles with or without inert gas injection
