Summary: | Buckwheat herb is known to contain a large amount of rutin. Rutin, the flavonol glycoside quercetin-3-O-rutinoside, is found in many plants. Only few, such as Sophora japonica and even some Eucalyptus species, contain as high amounts as buckwheat leaves. Rutin and even buckwheat herbs are a medicine to influence the permeability of the vessels, thus helping to prevent haemorrhages, ruptures and edema. The review mentions results about the preclinical and clinical studies of buckwheat herb, and even of isolated rutin. The fagopyrism and even a small number of allergy cases are disscused. |
