Summary:The study tries to understand the various forms of care offered in French eighteenth-century convents. It relies on original archival material: a book of medical examination written by a convent surgeon from 1786 to 1790. More than one hundred medical examinations are registered. With the convent nurse, he treated insomnias, digestive problems and performed surgical operations. He ordered a large number of ingredients for his medical preparations. The lists were very precise, and they enable us to know diversity of ingredients and their uses.
