Summary:<p class="x-----------" xml:lang="en-US"><span class="char-style-override-1">Purpose:</span> consider the essence of the concept of tolerance, identify features of organizational and pedagogical activity to form a tolerant behavior of students.</p><p class="x-----------" xml:lang="en-US"><span class="char-style-override-1">Method or methodology of work:</span> <span class="char-style-override-14">systematic, comparative analysis, etymological analysis, scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, axiomatic, generalization).</span></p><p class="x-----------" xml:lang="en-US"><span class="char-style-override-1">Results:</span> the article deals with consideration of essence of the phenomenon of «tolerance», «multicultural education». The article explains the principles of organizational-pedagogical activity on the formation of subjects of tolerant behavior, mechanisms providing the successful formation of tolerant attitude and behavior, the main peculiarity of the program of cultivation of tolerance, initiated by the institutions of General education.</p><p class="x-----------" xml:lang="en-US"><span class="char-style-override-1">Practical implications.</span> The results of the research and formulated conclusions can be used in the development of programs extracurricular educational activities for schools and included in the course of socio-humanitarian disciplines of organizations of professional education.</p>
