THE AMAZON EXTRA ECONOMY AND THE QUESTION OF THE LABOR OFFER: 1850-1890.
This article addresses the growth of the Amazon economy during the second half of the 19th century. Emphasizing the availability of labor as a factor that allowed the region to respond to the world demand for rubber, the study analyzes the presence of slave labor.
