description | This article discusses the propagandized media environment in China by studying the tweets from “The Great Translation Movement” on Twitter regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022. This article argues that the war not only simply spawned “The Great Translation Movement” on Twitter, but also caused more severe challenges to China’s Party-State propaganda machine from the outside world that may subvert the deep crisis of deconstruction of China’s propaganda. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda state has always wanted to establish a clear, correct and patriotic cyberspace, but if its use of means is largely only to suppress dissenting public opinion and opposition organizations at home and abroad, it will not be sustainable; after all, thousands of “Great Translation Movements” on various issues will continue to germinate and grow, becoming the nightmare of the authoritarian rule of the CCP. |
