description Objective: to identify cardiovascular risk factors and the perception of quality of life among nursing students from a federal university in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Method: descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted with 131 nursing students, in 2018. Data were collected through an instrument for demographic and socioeconomic characterization, a form for identifying cardiovascular risk factors and the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire, Bref (WHOQOL-BREF). In order to analyze data, we used descriptive statistics. Results: we found that 115 (87.8%) students had cardiovascular risk factors. As for quality of life, the average score was 70.1 (+17.0) for social relationships and 57.8 (+13.8) for the environment. Conclusion: there was a high prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, with a prevalence of sedentariness and obesity. Still regarding the quality of life, the worst perception was related to the environment, while social relationships highlighted positive results.
