Summary:The town of Taşova, populated 10.759 is located in the interior part of the central Black Sea region of Turkey geographically. It is a typical Anatolian settlement approximately 55 kilometres away, in the northeast of Amasya city. Due to its geographical location, geological setting, geomorphological and climatic features it is faced to many natural hazards. The most important hazard of the town faced to, is earthquakes while the others are mass movements and flash-floods. Since the town is approximately 3,5 km away North Anatolian Fault in the north, 5 km away Esençay-Merzifon Fault in the south have affected very severe earthquakes in the past, the Taşova town is at a dangerous setting. Severe earthquakes affected the town occurred in 1942 and 1943. And also old mass movements happened in the past and active mass movements in the close north have still been occurring. The town of Taşova which is partly located at the edge of the Yeşilırmak River course and also on its young floodplain sediments make a hazard by means of flash-floods is unlucky setting. In this paper geologicalgeomorphological and climatological-meteorological origin hazards of the town facing through the history will be given as a revise. And also studies carried out during and after the disasters and unsuitable applications are given.
