Description
Summary:Stakeholders, service providers, and social systems may be aided in achieving sustainable development with environmental and socioeconomic benefits if they embrace sustainable consumption behavior and control the production and consumption cycle. The aim of this study was to analyze the determinants that influence Bangladeshi consumers’ sustainable purchasing behavior. A quantitative survey was conducted among 100 participants of different ages. The data was gathered from Jashore City in Bangladesh using a scheduled interview and the convenience sample technique. According to the findings, sustainable consumption intention was the driving force that influences consumer behavior toward sustainable purchasing behavior, while supportive behaviour towards environmental organizations, attitude towards sustainable purchasing, perceived knowledge about sustainability issues, perceived marketplace influence, environmental concern, and subjective norms do not influence consumer behavior toward sustainable purchases. Since, Bangladesh is a developing country, some respondents were not known to the concept of ‘waste management’ but there were many consumers who were giving importance on waste management and were involved in sustainable purchasing in the emergence of protecting the environment. The authors expect and anticipate that the results of this article will be useful to relevant authorities and policymakers in developing market research and management policies and strategies.
