Description
Summary:A simple efficient and economical method is established to synthesize N-substituted Benzimidazole derivatives in moderate to excellent yield using Sodium metabisulfite adsorbed on silica gel in ethanol. The method is important as most of the reactions are completed at ambient temperature with easy product isolation as reaction mass can be directly used for column purification after the removal of solvent. Clean reaction products were obtained in good to excellent yields.
