Summary: | A presentation of unpublished artefacts from the Languedoc (Montpellier, Saint-Laurent-le-Minier), Provence (Marseille, the Saint-Symphorien priory at Bonnieux) and Damascus (the citadel) provides an opportunity for a review of glass beakers with applied droplets. This form of decoration is a common denominator of glass-ware used during the 13th and 14th centuries in a large part of the Christian and Islamic worlds. Attention is given to the distribution, variants and dates of these objects, and also to their highly-scattered regions of production. Related forms and decoration incite questions of origins, influences or stylistic connexions in addition to possible movements of craft-persons. |
