Summary:The purpose of this paper is to analyze a set of activities decisions and actions taken by agencies and actors in the historical discourse of the National Open University (UNA) , which although not developed systematically ordered and currently allow characterize A as an environmental context. As an institution of university distance education, A systematized the alternatives for finding open and flexible formulas that promote environmental awareness. Several experiments have been developed aimed at the formation of environmental awareness; for analysis, these have been operationalized in five types of activities: instructional materials, web ecology, research, ecological literature and socio- environmental activities. Depending on the analysis , it was determined that the promotion of environmental education in Unista community is oriented to reflect on the environment with sensibilizatorio character that strengthens awareness for survival and ethical judgment of the positions they occupy each of the living creatures in relation to other living beings and elements that are on planet Earth.
