description Over the last ten years, Albania went through great upheavals whose consequences influence the demographic behaviour and spatial distribution of the population. The development of international relationships and the growing migratory transfers have driven the country to a deep restructuring that the census of 2001 allows us to study. With a 35% urbanization rate in 1989, Albania appeared to be a rural world’s sanctuary in Europe. Today, with the expanding region Tiranë-Durrës, this delay is being made up. The country’s cartographic analysis at a district level will lead us to define the characteristics of the new Albanian demographic territory.
