description The presented review of the literature examines the main issues of cognitive function in patients with high blood pressure. More than a quarter of older people have cognitive impairments, and hypertension is seen as a contributing factor to such disorders. An analysis of the effects of some hypotensive drugs on the cognitive functions of patients in this category is given. The findings suggest that effective hypotensive therapy reduces the incidence of cognitive impairment in given patient’s categories.
