Summary:The paper focuses on specific features of functioning of images and motives of disease, pain, deformation, madness, death, etc., which are common for the literary process of the late 20th century, in modern Russian writer Mikhail Shishkin’s prose. In Shishkin’s art works poetics of destruction becomes one of the fundamental principles of organizing the event side of the text and the leading strategy of the author’s anthropology and gnoseology.
