country’s financial stability depends on smooth execution of payments, the level of which steadily grows.
One of the aims of the article is to measure in relation to the 2012 annual Poland’s GDP the value
of money flows, which was transferred in systemically important payment systems in Poland (SORBNET
and ELIXIR). Other payment systems, including card payment systems, which from one year to another
process bigger number and value of transactions, were also subject to analysis. A further issue addressed
is the liquidity management of Polish banks evaluated from the perspective of settlement efficiency in the
central bank’s money. The risks in the payment system are highly correlated. Important from both – the
viewpoint of supervisors and the payment service providers is to pay attention to the interdependence
of risks and the aware control of their level. |
