description The process of integrating the world economy led by the United States has had dubious effects on the country. While US corporations expanded their presence and dominance over the world economy, there was a deterioration of the US labor market and middle-class living conditions, which generated resentment of Wall Street after the crisis of 2008 and also questions about the benefits of insertion into the world economy for the US. The purpose of this paper is to examine how this context favored Trump's rise and his proposals to review some of the characteristics of liberalism that guided US foreign policy since the end of World War II.
