description Background: Pelvic injuries in the paediatric population are relatively rare and thus there are scanty reports in the literature about their management. Traditionally these injuries were managed conservatively; however, recent studies have shown more inclination towards operative management because of the limited remodeling potential. Case report: In this report, we describe an uncommon, unstable pelvic injury in a 5-year-old child which needed open reduction and stabilization of the pubic symphysis. Conclusion: We report a rare injury, management, and innovative technique of stabilization of the pubic symphysis in a 5-year-old child. We recommend adding non-absorbable sutures to the armamentarium for the management of paediatric pelvic injuries.
