Description
Summary:The purpose of this article is to revise the Gramscian contributions about capitalist society, with an emphasis on his reflections about the State and power. It first situates the foundational socio-historic elements of the author’s analysis, inscribed in the particular scenario of the transition from competitive capitalism to the state of monopoly capitalism. It revives the theoreticalanalytical bases of Gramsci’s thinking, based on the unique contributions of the writings of Marx and Engels to the formulation of the concept of the expanded State. It defends the current relevance of Gramsci’s thinking to the revelation of the capitalist ethos, principally by the analysis of the contemporary strategies of recomposition of the bourgeois hegemony.
