description The dramatic increase in the world population of the elderly is a phenomenon that has been going on since the 20th century, and it is necessary to improve their mental and physical condition. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effectiveness of resiliency training on social adjustment and life purposefulness among male elderly living in nursing homes in Isfahan. It was a quasi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest design and control group. Participants included 30 elderly men aging between 65 and 96 who were selected by convenience sampling method according to inclusion criteria. Then, they were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups (n=15). The experimental group received resiliency training for 8 sessions of 90 minutes. The control group received no intervention. Participants responded to Bell's social adjustment questionnaire and Crumbaugh and Maholick purposefulness questionnaires. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 23. The results showed that group resiliency training significantly increased social adjustment and purposefulness in the experimental group (P<0.001). Therefore, it is suggested to use resiliency training to increase the level of social adjustment and purposefulness in the elderly living in nursing homes.
