| Summary: | This essay explores how the theology of Christ’s saving work, soteriology, might better underwrite the celebration of the Eucharist and its extension into the world of Christian social action by calling attention to the restorative dimensions of the soteriological tradition. In other words, a more authentic soteriology may connect better with Eucharistic practice to help to structure a more specifically Christian account of justice—one that centers on the therapeutic and restorative dimensions of Christian discipleship—and may more consistently empower the Christian church to faithfully bear witness to restorative and healing practices within a world plagued by sin and violence. |
