a result of natural factors or as a consequence of human activities. In general, they are
studied and interpreted developing archaeofaunal analysis and sometimes using data from
actualistic studies. The aim of this paper is to gather information about the exploitation
of coypu (Myocastor coypus) from the analysis of different documentary sources -both
historic and ethnographic- which then can be implemented in the interpretation of the
archaeofaunal record of this species. These documentary sources allow us to know
about diverse relations between human groups and different rodent species. From these
associations, some continuities and ruptures were found in relation to hunting and
butchery, the knowledge required for hunting and the environment, during centuries |
