description | Infantile Haemangiomas (IH) are the most common vascular tumors occurring in early childhood, with a prevalence of approximately 5-10% of infants. These vascular tumors are divided into two main groups including infantile haemangioma and vascular malformations. Although, haemangioma of infancy are common, benign and self-limited tumors, a significant percent of these lesions are associated with substantial morbidity in infancy and childhood. All currently used treatments have significant risks. Dramatic improvement of complicated haemangioma of infancy to propranolol was recently reported. Herein, we review infantile haemangioma as a whole with focus on the therapeutic efficacy of systemic and topical propranolol as a beta-blockers for the management of infantile haemangioma. |
