| Summary: | On the basis of clinical research the peculiarities of the course of dental caries and its complications were studied in patients with schizophrenia. The patients with schizophrenia seldom monitor the hygiene of the oral cavity. The more evident the negative symptoms of schizophrenia are, the more dental diseases manifest themselves. The patients with schizophrenia, as a rule, contact the dentist only in the case of the acute pain, caused by the diseases of the pulp and periodontium. The findings call for implementation of a comprehensive program of prevention of dental caries and its complications in patients with schizophrenia |
