Description
Summary:The present paper highlights the timelessness of the Convention on Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms in terms of intercultural communication with third-country nationals in the context of detention facilities within Slovakia as a transit country in relation to migration and also Greece that is considered first-line country from the point of view of migrants. By providing a closer look at the specific conditions of communication in selected countries, we conclude that the Convention itself is a general framework which, although formulated in 1950, takes into account current migration needs and is the starting point applicable to the development of current legislation at both Member State and EU level.
