This way of proceeding will be for us the occasion to make dialogue two visions – one Flusserian, another Foucauldian – of “power” which seem to us to answer each other. By proceeding in this way, the dialectic proposed by Flusser between on the one hand the “friendly” designer and on the other hand the “cunning” design echoes the governmentality theorized by Foucault, understood as the way of leading bodies according to a certain disciplinary ideology. Considering technique and discipline through design will then allow us to understand the latter as an active device by moving away from the simple use / function dialectic. |
