Summary: | In the first decades of the twenty-first century, there was a new arrival of Africans and Europeans to Brazil. In the context of these new migratory influxes, this article considers inequalities and racism based on the narratives and experiences of those recently arriving in Rio de Janeiro. I discuss two main axes of alterity in Brazil: Europeanness and Africanness in order to show a differentiated picture of their legacies in a society still marked by its colonial matrix. |
