| description | Objective To investigate the effect of psychological nursing interventions on rehabilitation of elderly patients with stroke. Methods Totally 90 elderly patients with stroke were randomly divided into the observation group and control group, with 45 cases in each group. All patients received routine treatment and care for stroke rehabilitation, and those in the observation group were given psychological nursing interventions. The Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS)and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) were used to assess the emotion state. Bathel index was used to evaluate the patients’ activity of daily. A questionnaire-based survey using Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scales (NSNS)was conducted to measure patients’ satisfaction. Results SAS and SDS scores decreased in both observation group and control group after intervention, and SAS and SDS scores were lower in the observation group than those in the control group(P＜0. 01). The Bathel index increased in both observation group and control group after intervention, and Bathel index was higher in the observation group than that in the control group(P＜0. 01). Higher degree of satisfaction was measured in the observation group that in the control group (P<0. 01). Conclusion In addition to comprehensive treatment and nursing, targeted psychological nursing interventions are potentially effective to relieve the negative emotion and improve the activity of daily living in patients with stroke.
