description This article investigates the role of positive and negative group emotions of Chileans in the territorial conflict between Chile and Bolivia, in which the latter claims access to the sea. Two studies were conducted: one following the October 2018 ruling of the International Court of Justice in The Hague (n = 463), and the other one year later (n = 457). The data were studied by statistical analysis and the results showed the relevant predictive role of positive emotions. It was established that the participants present low levels of negative emotions, but they are not willing to cede territory to Bolivia and positively value the ruling in favor of Chile. These are important issues for the future relationship between the two countries.
