Summary:No robust evidence proving clinical effectiveness of methylprednisolone in acute respiratory distress-syndrome in COVID-19, including combined use with tocilizumab, has been identified. Systemic glucocorticosteroids use may be considered acceptable in such patients in life-threatening situations, when interleukin-6 blockers (tocilizumab, sarilumab) are unavailable.
