Description
Summary:The shear mechanical properties of rock joints are crucial in assessing the stability and safety of rock structures, including slopes, rock dams, and tunnels. The yield stress serves as a pivotal point that distinguishes the linear and non-linear mechanical characteristics of rock joints. Due to its significance in risk monitoring and safety evaluation, this paper first provides an overview of the commonly employed methods for identifying the yield stress. Then, a novel displacement reduction method based on the displacement reduction coefficient is proposed and systemically examined. The comparison between the proposed method and existing methods based on shear experimental data suggests that the former is more adept at accurately determining the yield stress without subjective interference. Finally, this innovative method is employed to estimate the effects of external environmental factors on the yield stress of rock joints.
