Summary:The between-two is an expression that has long been linked to the period between two wars (The first and the second world wars), or the phenomenon of exile, which connotes one between the the country of origin and the host country. In other words, this expression has often been linked to space and / or time. In Les rochers de Poudre d’Or of Nathacha Appanah, this notion comes back many times and in different forms. It appears for the first time through the hybridization between two literary genres : the logbook and the diary. It is found a second time in a homodiegetic narration that interferes between two hetero diegetic parts. It is also perceived through the theme of trafficking (slave trade) which is the guideline of the novel’s narrative framework. Another time, it reappears in space in the object of the boat. Finally, it manifests itself in the status accorded to the exiled personages, which will be highlighted through the descriptive card of these personages (redundant personages in the three narrative spaces of the narration : India, the boat and the Mauritius). This leads us to ask ourselves questions about the structure of each of these “between-two” : Is this notion of which we speak spells the same meaning ? Or is it changing according to its context of introduction ? This is what we will attempt
