Summary: | In order to investigate the contributions made by the quota policy to the construction of a more democratic and plural public university environment, this study aimed to describe and analyze the process of implementing the quota system in the Porto Velho Campus of the Federal University of Rondônia (UNIR), with a focus on black female students. Thus, it performs a document analysis and analysis of quantitative data. Emphasizes that the results show compliance with the total mandatory reserve one year before the deadline, even though there are problems in the process, and observes that the number of vacancies occupied by black quota women has increased, with a higher academic success rate and a rate of " abandonment” lower, if compared to black male quota holders. It concludes that it was not possible to verify significant results for the promotion of the permanence and success of these students by the institution's assistance policy.
