Perfect flat band with chirality and charge ordering out of strong spin-orbit interaction
Spin-orbit coupling has been typically associated with dispersion and topological character of electronic bands. Here, the authors show analytically that strong spin orbit coupling can lead to ultra-flat bands with strong correlations in a 5d pyrochlore lattice.
