description | The aim of this paper is to find out whether the criticism of the traditional media by a journalistic site, Arrêt sur images, and by a civil association, Acrimed, is a new digital form of political argumentation. Acrimed is a militant organization combining criticism and action; Arrêt sur images strictly confines itself to a critical posture. One wishes to problematize and persuade, while the other only wants to stimulate reflection. These two discursive institutions, however, activate the same kind of polemical analysis against representative democratic rhetoric. Therefore, the notion of political discourse will broadly refer to a corpus “which implies a judgment on the organization of the community” (Carlier 2003). These two media outlets explore the traces of verbal depoliticizing, but also deal with the re-politicizing of public speech and the creation of a new rhetoric of protest. By appealing to typical examples, we attempt to circumscribe the key traits of this verbal expression of political debate. |
