description The paper focuses on the careers of the two main gardeners at the Savoy court between 17th and 18th century, Henri Duparc (1655-1737) e Michel Benard (1735-1773) in the framework of the French gardeners working in the residences (or sending plans form Paris) from the middle of 17th century (Jacques Gelin, Alexandre Bellier, André Le Nôtre, Antoine du Marne). Duparc turned the complex of Venaria Reale into an updated French garden, fom 1700, Benard designed the most important court gardens in the 18th century, as Stupinigi (1740), Moncalieri (1761), Agliè (1765). The research has been carried out at the Turin State Archives and the Paris National Archives and the results show the links between the planning and the maintenance of the Savoy gardens and the families working for the French court. The same families (Gelin, Bellier, Duparc, etc.), acting as dynasties, ruled at the same time the gardens of the Bourbon and Savoy families, strengthening the diffusion of patterns and formal choices usually based on the circulation of etchings and treatises.
