Summary:The movement of criticism and innovations on the theoretical and methodological perspectives of historiography, which occurred in the second half of the 20th century, caused the emergence of new objects and interpretations contributing to the historian's inquiries. Hence, this article intends to identify, in consonance with the extent given to the idea of sociability in this movement, the foundation of Freemasonry in Ancien Regime France, and subsequently consider the absorption and incorporation of these ideas in the secularization of Brazilian politics.
