Description
Summary:This work covers some milestones in the political and cultural life of the Argentine publisher, literary critic and essayist Roberto Giusti, which allow us to reflect on his place within the Argentine left. We will highlight his enthusiastic reception of the Russian revolution in 1917, his performance in socialism in the 1920s in order, by the end of that decade, to end up leaning towards the Socialist Independent Party that supported the president Agustín Justo. No less relevant is the fact that through the magazine Nosotros, he wove literary friendships that led him to alternate with the most conspicuous representatives of Argentine nationalism, among them, Carlos Ibarguren who, despite his fascists sympathies, maintained a friendly relationship with Giusti. Thus, it constitutes a laboratory in which to think about the cleavage between right and left in the intellectual history of Argentina in the first half of the 20th century.
