Description
Summary:Based on the book «Martin Doesn’t Cry» by L. Goralik we study specific features of the new genre of literature in which verbal and visual components are equally used by the author. The works by L. Goralik tend to depict contemporary life on the basis of tradition: the story of the elephant called Martin is allusive to the story «Elephant» by A.I. Kuprin. It is shown that the “new format” of the book is closely connected with the fantastic events of the story and the creative ideas of the author, who is the writer and artist at the same time. Some ways of visualization of the prose used in L.Goralik’s story are discussed, among them: arrangement of the page, font and pictures. Methodological potential of the book is beyond doubt, as books of the new type arouse students’ interest to reading and motivate them to write their own stories.
