description Background. The research provides diverse factual information on the state of the Orthodox Church in the Novosibirsk region in the first half of the 1950s. Some of it is not known to a wide circle of those interested in the history of Orthodoxy and specialists. The study was based on documents from the State Archives of the Russian Federation (SA RF). These are informative reports and references. Materials and methods. The re-search is based on the principles of historicism and objectivity. General scientific methods of collection, analysis and synthesis of information, deduction and induction were used. Among the special scientific methods are the methods of comparative historical analysis, the historian-systemic method. Results. It is noted that the history of Orthodoxy in the Novosibirsk region in the post-war Soviet period was reflected in scientific publications. At the same time, even despite the presence of voluminous dissertation research, it is im-possible to say that it has been studied and characterized at the present time, in full and evenly chronologically. Conclusions. The authors talk about the controversy of certain available data in research and archival sources, note that they require clarification. Atten-tion is focused on the need for further work with sources on the problem field of the article. It is about the importance of conducting a serious comparative analysis, within the frame-work of the subject field of the article, for the regions of Siberia and the RSFSR as a whole.
