Summary:Herein, the application of zinc oxide supported on sintered calcium phosphate (SCaP) as a catalyst in acylation reaction is described. This catalyst was found to be highly effective in solvent free acylation of various phenols, alcohols and amines. Reaction at room temperature, with very less quantity of the catalyst, high yield in shorter reaction time, easy separation of the catalyst and isolation of the desired product in good purity are the merits of this reaction. In addition, the recovered catalyst could be reused for four successive runs without significant deterioration in catalytic activity.
