Research progress of dorsal root entry zone lesioning for the treatment of pain after brachial plexus avulsion

description
Pain after brachial plexus avulsion (BPA) is a clinically common drug-refractory neuropathic pain. Overactive spontaneous potential due to deafferentation in the neurons of spinal dorsal horn is the main pathogenesis of pain after BPA. Dorsal root entry zone (DREZ) lesioning is one way that damages overactive spontaneous potential neurons in spinal dorsal horn through radio-frequency electrode or bipolar coagulation so as to achieve pain relief. Dorsal root entry zone lesioning is a safe and effective treatment approach for pain after BPA.

DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1672-6731.2015.08.014
