description The former school complex of la Dullague, located at 19 avenue des Martyrs-de-la-Résistance at Béziers (Hérault Department), which became the lycée Jean-Moulin, is a large collection of buildings built in 1965 in order to welcome a significant number of pupils within the framework of the urban development of the time, while the city was rich with a large population thanks to wine cultivation and the arrival of the repatriates from Algeria. The architects selected by the City and the French Ministry of National Education were Daniel Badani and Pierre Roux-Dorlut, who then enjoyed a well-established reputation. They called upon Jean Prouvé to create buildings covered with metal façades in dazzling blue. The DRAC (Regional Department of Cultural Affairs) of Occitania carried out a study in 2008 for the “Architecture contemporaine remarquable”, the Remarkable Contemporary Architecture labelling and thus highlighted the architectural interest of this high school. A complete restructuring, which began in 2007 with destructions that went unnoticed, is underway. The risk of demolition it poses to other buildings, made obsolete by both the lack of insulation and their closure due to the considerable decrease in the number of pupils, has pushed the DRAC to report to the region, the authority which owns the school complex, that the taking into account of the heritage value should be considered.
