Description
Summary:This article offers an analysis of some of the impacts of the process called “globalization” in Cuba. Indeed, even if globalization is often seen as a destructive force, it can actually constitute a good opportunity for the Caribbean island, by reactivating union states in the area, particularly the insular Caribbean, which could allow Cuba not to be “isolated” anymore. Furthermore, the global phenomenon imposes a rethink of the culture(s), and consequently their relationship. Thus, one should analyze the official position of Cuban authorities on globalization, in order to understand how this phenomenon is perceived within Cuba. Secondly, it is necessary to analyze the impacts of the globalization on the Cuban and Caribbean cultures with a view to understand how cultural links can currently strengthen or on the contrary weaken in the Caribbean area. Lastly, and as a consequence, one can’t ignore the reactivation of the regional integration, at least in the speech of the political leaders of the Caribbean space.
