סיכום:Hydrogen embrittlement of a Ni-based superalloy, IN740H, was evaluated after gas-phase hydrogen pre-charging. Specimens with different grain sizes were prepared to induce different precipitation behavior under annealing treatment; the formation of needle-like MC carbide was found only in a specimen with a larger grain size and incoherent twin boundaries after annealing treatment at 1173 K. While other parameters including the grain size and annealing treatment turned out not to undermine the resistance to hydrogen embrittlement, the needle-like MC carbide was found to induce premature failure after hydrogen absorption.
