description The article is an overview of the round table "Soft power of Russia and India: Commonalities and differences", held at the Faculty of PublicAdministration of Lomonosov Moscow State University in February 2023. This event brought together representatives from various Russian scientific and educational centers. The Russian Federation and the Republic of India are unique civilization states with rich cultural and historical heritage. In the current era of massive geopolitical restructuring, the dynamic development of Russian-Indian relationsis of great value for both countries and is becoming particularly relevant. The speakers analyzed the key parameters measuring the soft power of leading states, including Russia and India. The priorities of India's soft power policy in Central Asia were determined, the issues related to digital and media diplomacy of Moscow and New Delhi were highlighted, and the main institutions and directions of India's soft power and public diplomacy in Russia were outlined. The reporters also drew attention to a number of difficulties faced by Russia and India in implementing their policies in this area, including the relatively recentstart of their full-fledged use in the international arena and associated institutional problems. The roundtable participants came to the conclusion, that despite a lot of civilizational differences, the Russian Federation and the Republic of India have enormoussoft power potential, which they are trying to implement in similar areas both on the international stage and in bilateral cooperation.
