Description
Summary:This research describes a novel method of finishing wool fabric in order to gain sound absorption and water resistance properties. In this study, the surface of samples was modified with plasma and then treated with silica nanospheres. Field emission scanning electron microscope and EDX analysis showed the morphology and present of nanoparticles, and elemental mapping proved the distribution of silica nanospheres without agglomeration. Impedance tube device was used to calculate the sound absorption, and the results showed excellent acoustical performance of prepared samples. However, the water resistance of samples was investigated and the specimens showed good resistance against water.
