description Evolute gearing is realized in a family of teeth profiles for gears and chain drives with convex-concave contact. The main criterion of loading capacity for gear is contact strength, for chain drive – tooth wear. Both indicators depend on the level of contact stress. Therefore, the aim of this work is to determine the contact stress in the evolute gearing. Calculations of contact stress are based on the Hertz formula and the finite element method. The analysis and comparison of results for different evolute profiles is carried out.
