Description
Summary:Doi: 10.5902/2179769212938 Objective: to describe the design, implementation and evaluation of a training course on cost management for nurses in a public university hospital. Method: this is an exploratory-descriptive qualitative study. The focus group technique was utilized as a way to promote creation of rapport, integration and involvement of participants, as well as an evaluation tool, in which a session was held before the training and another one immediately after it. The course was taught in November 2010 with a workload of three hours and used dialogic expository lessons as a learning strategy. Results: the training aimed to improve nurses' views on cost management, as well as to prompt reflections about the strategic importance of these professionals in hospitals. Conclusion: the course promoted the awareness of the nurses about the importance of cost management, providing these professionals with new knowledge about it. However, it is necessary to deepen discussions on the theme.
